Medietilsynet — Norway¶
In Norway, distributors self-rate film content (since 2023) under the supervision of Medietilsynet, the Norwegian Media Authority.
Rating tiers¶
A (all ages), 6, 9, 12, 15, 18
A distinctive feature is the ledsagerregel (companion rule): a child accompanied by an adult may watch content one bracket above their age — except 18, which is absolute.
What this means for ads and trailers¶
Self-rating puts the classification responsibility on the distributor — and the companion rule means cinema audiences routinely include children below the nominal rating. Both make an objective pre-check of ads and trailers more valuable, not less.

The DCProof Age Report estimates the Norwegian tier of your ad or trailer, with timecoded findings per criterion.
