jMK / ABMC — Austria

Austria's jMK (Jugendmedienkommission, internationally ABMC) issues federal age recommendations for film content. The tiers are advisory at federal level; binding admission ages are set separately by each Bundesland.

Rating tiers

0, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16

The scale stops at 16 — content too strong for a 16 certificate falls outside the jMK system entirely.

What this means for ads and trailers

The federal/regional split means the same spot can face different binding rules in Vienna and Tyrol. Publishers and sales houses working nationwide need to know the content profile, not just the label, to book with confidence.
