IFCO — Ireland¶
IFCO (the Irish Film Classification Office) is the statutory classifier for cinema and video releases in Ireland, operating under guidelines last revised in April 2025.
Rating tiers¶
| Tier | Meaning |
|---|---|
| G | General — suitable for all |
| PG | Parental guidance |
| 12A | Under-12s admitted with an adult (cinema) |
| 15A | Under-15s admitted with an adult (cinema) |
| 16 | 16 and over — cinema only |
| 18 | Adults only |
The "A" tiers are distinctive: they let parents override the age line in cinemas, which keeps family cinema-going flexible while preserving the guidance.
What this means for ads and trailers¶
Because 12A and 15A screenings routinely contain younger accompanied children, advertising and trailers before those features are judged against a mixed audience — stricter in practice than the number on the label suggests.

The DCProof Age Report estimates the IFCO tier of your ad or trailer before submission, with timecoded findings per criterion.
